The theme is: “The Art World of The Future”.

The brief: “We want you to create a piece that shows us your interpretation of the art world of the future. Are we ultimately moving towards an unlimited, free, open and limitless global creative environment – or does technology restrict us, reduce creativity, take away the value of draftsmanship, encourage plagiarism and ultimately create new boundaries that never existed before? Perhaps it’s somewhere in-between. Show us. Create debate. Stimulate discussion”.

All Artists must apply by creating a PDF submission on the ArteVue App.  The PDF submission must include 3 photographs of the prize entry. The PDF submission should also include images of 5 other previous works.

Applications must be received by 11:59 GMT on Sunday 1st October 2017 (the Closing Date).

Artists must be aged between 18 and 30 years of age (as of Sunday 1st October 2017).

There are no geographic restrictions.

Artists may only submit one artwork entry per person.

All artwork must be the participant’s own artwork.

The artist must not be represented by an established gallery (eg. a gallery which has been open/established for 5 years or more).

Eligible artwork includes:

•    2D works on Paper

•    2D works on canvas

•    Photography (see T&Cs for further details)

•    3D/sculpture

The Shortlisting Panel will select a shortlist of the top 100 entries.  Shortlisted artists will be contacted and information regarding each artist and their work will be requested.  

From this shortlist, 10 finalists will be selected. Selected finalists will deliver their artwork to London for judging by the Judging Panel, a finalists awards evening and one (1) week exhibition in November 2017.

The Shortlisting Panel has the right to exclude applications which do not comply with the rules.

The Shortlisting Panel consists of experts on contemporary art. The members of the Shortlisting Panel are put forward by ArteVue.

One winner will be selected and will win:

•    Cash prize of US$15,000; and

•    Three month Artist Residency at the Delfina Foundation in London.

By entering this competition, you hereby agree to the following terms and represent and warrant to ArteVue and ArtePrize (“ArteVue” or “ArtePrize” or “Our” or “We”) that all registration information you submit is truthful, accurate and:

Acceptance of Terms – The participant’s access to the ArtePrize is subject exclusively to these Terms and Conditions.

Conditions of Entry

A)    The competition is open to all artists between 18-30 years of age as of 11:59pm on Sunday 1st October 2017.

B)    Participants must create a submission only by using the ArteVue App and upload a photo of their artworks meeting the size limitations as outlined in the Artist Submission Guide.

C)    The artwork(s) must be the participant’s own work(s). The participant hereby warrants that he/she has full title to the artwork(s), that he/she has all rights to submit the artwork(s) on these Terms and Conditions and from the moment of submission he/she will not enter into any commitments (by way of agreement or otherwise) which may limit their participation in the Prize or in the Prize Exhibition in accordance with these Terms and Conditions;

D)    The artwork submission is limited to a total sales price valuation of US$25,000;

E)    Each participant may apply only once during the Application Session;

F)    Each participant must apply individually. Collaborative work is not accepted.

G)    Participants must not be represented by an established gallery (eg. a gallery which has been open/established for 5 years or more).

H)    Each participant agrees to take part in the ArtePrize Exhibition if selected by the Judging Panel;

I)    Entry forms and other information submitted by participant can be reviewed by the Organisers at any time to ensure compliance with the Terms and Conditions;

J)     A participant may not amend their entry form or any other information once it has been submitted;

K)    A participant may be asked at any time to provide all relevant proof of the accuracy of any submitted information to the satisfaction of the Organisers;

L)    An Application shall be deemed accepted once the participant receives confirmation by email. If the entry form is not in compliance with these Terms and Conditions, the participant will not receive confirmation by e-mail;

M)    The Organisers and the Shortlisting Panel have the unilateral right to exclude a participant’s application which does not comply with the Terms and Conditions.

Fee – there are no fees for entry.

Eligibility – works of art from the following media are eligible for the ArtePrize:

•    2D works on Paper

•    2D works on canvas

•    Photography (includes digital photography, traditional analogue photography, polaroid, photography including innovative manipulation of the image)

•    3D/sculpture

Size – as follows the size limitations for the ArtePrize:

•    2D works on Paper must be larger than 30cm x 30xm and smaller than 180cm x 180cm (if artwork is supplied framed, this measurement includes the frame).

•    2D works on Canvas must be larger than 30cm x 30xm and smaller than 180cm x 180cm (if artwork is supplied framed, this measurement includes the frame).

•   Photography when printed must be larger than 30cm x 30xm and smaller than 180cm x 180cm (if artwork is supplied framed, this measurement includes the frame).

•   A Diptych or Triptych in any format above must fit within the sizes outlined when fully positioned or presented - this is inclusive of the frame.

•   3D/Sculpture (all materials are accepted) - the maximum size for a work that is preassembled (arrives as one piece) is 184cm x 184cm x 61cm. The maximum size for work that is comprised of multiple parts to be assembled in ArteVue is 184cm x 184cm x 92cm.

Artwork Subject Matter - The artwork which will be uploaded by you will not include material that is pornographic, sexually explicit, violent and/or racist.

Timescales - Participants may submit applications via the ArteVue App before 11:59 GMT on Sunday 1st October 2017 (the Closing Date).

All applications received outside this period will not be considered.

Following the close of applications, the Shortlisting Panel will review these applications and decide on a shortlist of 100 artists.

The Judging Panel will then select 10 Finalists.
These artists will participate in the ArtePrize Exhibition by exhibiting their artwork submission on 20th November 2017 at the Delfina Foundation in London.
The Judging Panel – The Judging Panel will consist of 6 expert judges including:

•    Member of The Delfina Foundation, London
•    Arts Journalist and Critic
•    Social Media Arts Influencer
•    Director/Board Member from an Art Institution
•    Notable Emerging Artist
•    ArteVue Founder

Selection Criteria and Procedure – All shortlisting will be based on the following criteria:

ORIGINALITY: Panel/Judges will look at the originality of the work and technique that is used to execute it, creativity and quality of execution.

CONCEPT: The concept should express a personal point of view, critical and sensitive, and should reflect the universe and imagination of the artist.

COHERENCE: Between the work and the concept, Judging Panel will check if the series proposed is consistent with the concept exposed.

Any decision of the Shortlisting Panel and Judging Panel in relation to any matter arising under these terms and conditions is final.

Reasons will not be given for any such decision and the jury and/or Shortlisting Panel will not enter into any correspondence regarding the merits of any submissions or decision.

Shortlisted Artists – 100 shortlisted artists will be selected by the Shortlisting Panel. All shortlisted artists will be contacted and asked to submit a biography, artist’s statement and further details about their work.  

Selected Finalists – If your work is selected as a finalist, it will be your exclusive responsibility to deliver the actual artwork to the exhibition and to make sure it is framed and/or gallery wrapped and ready to be displayed (see Finalist Submissions below).

You agree that you will follow all of Our procedures for promotion and exhibitions and that we have the exclusive right to revoke your participation if those instructions are not followed.

You will be required to sign up to further terms & conditions if you are selected for an exhibition.

If you’re not able to have the artwork shipped to the gallery, We will provide a monitor to display your artwork in the exhibition at no additional cost. Monitors will be provided to the first 5 Shortlisted Artists who request them. On each monitor We may display up to 5 images of your artwork.

Finalist submissions

A)    These requirements apply only to the participants selected for the shortlist and are accepted by them at the moment of each participant’s initial submission/registration.

B)    The participant agrees to bear all responsibility and cost associated with the production of his/her work of art for the Prize Exhibition. Artwork(s) must be complete for the installation and display.

C)    All installation/deinstallation instructions must be passed to the Organisers (two) months before the opening of the Prize Exhibition but in any event not later than the date specified by the Organisers.

D)    Delivery and collection of any artwork(s) must be within the days and times set by the Organisers.

E)    The shortlisted artist will cover all costs of crating, transportation and customs formalities when shipping artworks to/from London for exhibition in accordance with separate agreements with the participant. Any extra expenses caused for any reason due to a failure of a participant to meet any transportation deadline which was agreed between the Organisers and the participant shall be covered by the participant.

F)     The Shortlisted Artist shall be responsible for insuring the artwork according to the value given by the participant for the complete period of the loan.

G)    The participant agrees to provide the Organisers with all information required for customs formalities and agrees to sign any relevant separate contracts (in the form of a loan of artwork or otherwise), which could be required for customs clearance during transportation to the Prize Exhibition according to all applicable laws.

H)    The participant agrees to pass all dimensions and specifications of the artwork(s) to the Organisers.

I)    The participant will ensure that the artwork(s) made available by the participant for the Prize Exhibition will remain available for the entire period of the Prize Exhibition.

J)    The artwork(s) which will be shown in the Prize Exhibition must fit the technical limitations of the galleries (e.g. size, entry). This shall be discussed with the participant once selected for the Prize Exhibition.

The Prize – The prize for the winning artist is US$15,000 cash and a three month Artist Residency at the Delfina Foundation in London (including accommodation, artist liaison, internal events, critique sessions, daily tube travel costs, daily allowance, temporary work visa and materials).

There are no alternatives available for the prize winner.

The winner is responsible for any import taxes or levies payable on receipt of the awards in your own country.

Copyright – The images you submit are images of original artwork created by yourself.

Images submitted by you do not violate the privacy rights, publicity rights, copyright or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity.

You may not post, distribute, or reproduce in any way any copyrighted material, trademarks, or other proprietary information of ArteVue without obtaining the prior written consent of the owner of such proprietary rights.

Without limiting Our rights, it is Our policy to terminate all relations with any artist who infringes copyright upon Our receipt of a notice of infringement from the copyright owner or the copyright owner’s legal counsel.

Usage of Images – We will have the right to publish images of your artwork on Our websites and other advertising channels to promote the 2017 ArtePrize, future prizes and competitions and your artwork.

Retention of Images - By uploading your artwork, you authorise us to retain the images of such uploaded artwork in Our system until the conclusion of the competition.

You further authorise us to retain such images following the conclusion of the competition.

Intellectual Property - Subject to ‘Use of Images’ and ‘Retention of Images’ clauses above, all intellectual rights and copyright will remain the property of the participant.

ArteVue Logo – You are not permitted to use the ArtePrize logo to promote your ArtePrize entry.

Limitation of Liability – In the event that you bring a lawsuit or assert in any forum any claim whatsoever against ArteVue, its agents, employees, representatives and/or officers, in connection with and/or arising from any claims that are in any way related to your participation in the competition and/or Our relationship with you in any manner whatsoever, the maximum amount of damages to which you shall be entitled on all of your claims in the aggregate shall be the greater of either the insurance proceeds received by either you or ArteVue in connection with your claim.

In the event that you commence a lawsuit or other legal proceeding against ArteVue or any of ArteVue’s owners, officers, employees, agent, representatives or affiliates in connection with and/or arising from any claim whatsoever relating to the competition and/or Our relationship with you in any manner whatsoever;

A) you hereby unconditionally consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the United Kingdom; 

B) English Law shall apply for the adjudication of any such claim; and

C) ArteVue shall be entitled to recover from you all of its costs and expenses relating to any such proceeding including, without limitation, its legal fees.

Indemnity – You agree to indemnify and hold ArteVue, it’s owners, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, representatives and employees harmless from any loss, liability, claim, or demand, including reasonable legal fees, relating to any claim made by any third party due to or arising out of Our violation of any of the foregoing terms and conditions and/or any breach of your covenants, representations and warranties set out above.

Communications – By submitting an entry to the ArtePrize, ArteVue may, from time to time, provide some communication tools such as image galleries, administration areas, email, news groups, forums and/or other message or communication facilities designed to enable the participant to participate in the Prize and communicate with others.

Unless stated otherwise the Services are for the participant's personal and non-commercial use only.

Privacy Policy – We are committed to responsible data management and subscribe to the principals of the data protection legislation in the UK.

We are committed to maintaining the privacy of Our users and maintaining the security of any personal information received from the participant.

If the participant registers for any of the Services they will be asked to provide certain personal information.

The information provided by the participant is not available for sale or use by third parties.

The information is used solely for the purposes of the Prize and for the purposes of notifying the participant of changes or updates to the Website/Services.

Terms & Conditions - The Organisers reserve the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.

Severance - If any of these Terms and Conditions should be determined to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable for any reason by any court of competent jurisdiction then such Term or Condition shall be severed and the remaining Terms and Conditions shall survive and remain in full force and effect and continue to be binding and enforceable.

Governing Law - These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the participant hereby submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
